PET stands for polyethylene terephthalate. PET tape is a decorative clear tape printed onto a transparent plastic film, so the designs blend seamlessly into the surface underneath. It's great for planning, journalling and scrapbooking.

PET tape is made from a clear plastic film, so the background is transparent and the designs appear to sit directly on the page. Washi tape is paper-based, usually has a more matte finish and can often be torn by hand. PET tape is smoother and more durable, and most of our PET tapes are also kiss-cut so individual designs can be peeled straight from the backing.

Yes. Most of our PET tapes are kiss-cut, which means each individual design is already cut around its shape. Simply peel the design you want from the backing and stick it straight into your journal, planner or scrapbook.

Occasionally, a PET tape may not be kiss-cut, usually when the artwork is designed as a continuous pattern or works better as a strip. In these cases, you can simply snip across the section you want rather than cutting carefully around each individual design. This is uncommon and will always be clearly stated on the product listing.

Yes. Our PET tapes come with a release backing. With our kiss-cut designs, simply peel the individual design you want from the backing and stick it down.

Usually, no. Most of our PET tapes are kiss-cut, so you can peel individual designs straight from the backing without having to cut around them yourself.

Scissors can still be useful if you want to cut off a larger section of the roll, use several designs together or are using one of our occasional non-kiss-cut designs.

Sometimes you can gently lift PET tape straight after applying it, but it is not designed to be repositionable. As with any sticker or adhesive, how easily it can be lifted or removed depends greatly on the paper or surface it has been applied to.

Some papers are more delicate or absorbent than others, so repositioning or removing PET tape may damage the surface or leave a little adhesive behind. If you're unsure, we recommend testing it on a small area first.

PET tape works best on clean, smooth surfaces such as journal pages, planners, notebooks, cards and other paper goods. You can also use it on other smooth surfaces, though adhesion may vary depending on the material.

Because PET tape has a smooth, non-porous surface, not every pen will write on it well. Permanent markers and pens made for slick surfaces usually work best. We recommend testing on a spare piece first.

Each roll contains approximately 5 metres of PET tape, with the artwork repeating across approximately 6 loops.

One loop is one full repeat of the artwork before the design starts again. So if a PET tape has 6 loops, you’ll get the full design sequence approximately 6 times across the 5 metre roll.

Absolutely. While most of our designs are kiss-cut so you can peel and use them individually, you can also cut off a larger section of the tape and use several designs together.

The film is transparent, so any clear border is usually much less noticeable once applied, especially on lighter surfaces. You may still see the edge slightly depending on the surface and lighting.
